Force: Women’s Auxiliary Air Force
Cecily Tiner (nee Warner) was eighteen when she joined the W.A.A.F. during the Second World War. She was born near Sutton-on-Hull, England an area not bombed by the Germans during the war.
It was there she met her future husband, William Tiner, who was visiting a relative near Cecily’s home. The two were married July 2nd, 1944 and have now been married for 65 years. She returned to Canada after the war ended as a war bride, and enjoyed life as a soldier’s wife, as her husband served until 1968.
Cecily now lives in Markdale, Ontario with her husband William.
